The Friends of the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) actively supports the mission of the NCTC by advancing the conservation of fish, wildlife and their habitats through education. The Friends of the NCTC Scholarship Program provides funding for National Wildlife Refuge System Friends groups and/or volunteers to attend NCTC training courses to develop knowledge and skills that will ultimately benefit their refuge. The grant does not cover transportation costs.
The Program was established in 2005 when the Friends of NCTC applied for and received a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) in order to extend the reach of NCTC’s world-class training facility. The grant funds from NFWF are distributed through congressionally appropriated funds for refuges. Thus, at this time, only refuge Friends group and/or volunteers are eligible to apply. Later phases may include other Friends groups and volunteers.
Applicants must request support at least 8 weeks in advance of the course start date through submission of the application form. The application must be accompanied by a letter of justification from the refuge manager/project leader. Please complete and return both documents to info@friendsofnctc.org.
